Whitehead Lake September, 2007

Miserable Fun

While there were a couple times it was too warm, this was one of the best
campouts we have been on.

There were very few bugs, it rained only once, and the campground was mostly
ours. There are big nice steel fire rings about 2 1/2 feet tall. We had a
fire or coals the entire time.

Whitehead Lake Campground is truly a gem. There is a very nice boat launch.
The sites are well wooded and roomy. Clean bathrooms. Good water.

Mike and Tom spent one afternoon splicing a tow rope.

A short distance from the landing, Whitehead joins the Ochlockonee River.
With the water being low, there were lots of sandbars with clear shallow
water running over them. We took our Florida baths by lying in the middle of
these and letting the water run over us.
