On Saturday, Zach and I sat out for Indian Pass (which is about 20 miles west of Eastpoint, FL) for some good kayaking and oysters. We arrived in Indian Pass Campground around 3pm. The campground is located on the end of the Indian Pass peninsula where you will want to use the ramp to put your kayak in to paddle across to St. Vincent Island/Wildlife Refuge. It is about .5 mile to the island across the sound. The island coast is beautiful. We paddled across and kayaked along the bay side. We saw two beautiful bald eagles and lots of birds. We beached our kayaks by the boathouse and hiked to the beach side. Although we saw lots of animal tracks, we saw no wildlife. The beach was beautiful and secluded.

We stayed that night at Indian Pass Campground. We had planned on camping, but due to forgetting the essential tent, we stayed in one of the campground's new cabins. I am now spoiled! The campground is a beautiful, well-kept, friendly place that I highly recommend. The primitive campsite is on the water, and next time when we bring our tent plan on camping there. Here is the website for the campground: http://www.indianpasscamp.net/

Saturday night we went to the Indian Pass Trading Post and Raw Bar. We had the best seats in the place at the bar right in front of the shuckers! We ate 4 dozen oysters, shrimp, gumbo... yummy... here is the website for this awesome place: www.indianpassrawbar.com/

Word to the wise if you visit: Come in, get your own drink, sit down at the bar, and tell them what you want (don't wait to be waited on)... also, don't dress like a tourist,if you know what I mean.

Mae - no more, just Mae.
